Weekly development report 2024/08/24


Another quiet week in the stable version. It seems, like, the worst bugs are fixed here. The rest wait for the better time to emerge. :) As usual, nothing to report here.

The development version also goes as usual, in its normal speed. Again, some changes are visible to players too. All of them are players' suggestions but with some modification from my side. The list is shorter than usual, the visible change took a lot of time to adjust it.

  • The box with the player's ship's movement controls was redesigned. First, the buttons for movement are hidden now, when the ship is docked to a base. The second, I added there the button with the ship's orders.  Now it should require fewer clicks or be easier to find, especially for new players. This task took some time as I was experimenting with the look of the ship's control box UI.
  • The fun with rewriting the game in Nim programming language continues. Now, the UI related to the available missions in bases is almost fully moved to its new home.
  • And the task above triggered some cleanups in the old code. As the work moves forward, there are more tasks to remove unused old code.

And because the last development version was released almost four weeks ago, it is time for the new. In around 24 hours since this post, it will be available for download, and enjoy the new features, expected and unexpected. :)
