Weekly development report 2025/05/03


As often happens, after a quiet week, it comes a very noisy one. ;) Quite a few unplanned features were found in the game. I think there are still a few left to detect, so we'll have to wait a while for a new, more stable release of the game. Things discovered this week in a stable version:

  • Fixed possible crash when updating resident population in bases.
  • Improved the color of the player's ship cleaning icon to better match the default game colors.
  • Fixed random equipment generation for opponents.
  • Improved Tab key traverse in negotiation dialog when recruiting new crew members on bases.
  • Fixed closed negotiation dialog using the Escape key when the Hire button is selected.

The development version is constantly going its own way. The same bugs that were detected in the stable version were also fixed in the development version. As in previous weeks, the work mainly focuses on the new UI for the game.

  • Writing about the new UI: I'm still at the trade screen, mainly because when creating it, there were a few problems with the new UI. They should be mostly resolved by now, so next week I expect work to move forward a bit. Additionally, as usual, work is underway on the library used to create the new UI. Here I also spent some time correcting existing things.
  • As mentioned above,  I fixed the same errors that were detected in the stable game version.
  • Fixed showing enemy inventory in new UI during boarding enemy's ship.
  • Fixed deleted games after player's death in new UI.
  • And the old code, as usual, got some minor improvements and became a little more readable. Standard fun. ;)
