Weekly development report 2025/10/18

I think another tradition is being created. One week, one bug was found in the stable version of the game. Good thing it was finally found. It's bad that once a week. ;) Anyway, the stable version has become more stable, and I continue to look for more bugs. We'll see if this new tradition continues. Latest change:

  • Fixed crash when player tries to turn off the ship's engine.

The development version of the game is constantly moving forward. As usual, the main focus is on creating a new UI for the game. But again, changes visible to everyone can be reported. And these are changes that affect the gameplay itself:

  • In the development of the new UI, I am still on the information screen about the player's ship, in its section for managing installed modules. I'm still on a screen that shows information about the selected module and allows players to manage it. The work is slowly moving forward; I will probably spend some more time here.
  • As always, in the meantime, work is underway on the library used to create the new UI. As in the previous week, this work mainly involves clearing the code, adding documentation, etc.
  • The same bug found in the stable version of the game was found in the development version and fixed the same way. At least that's what it looks like. ;)
  • Another visible change in the game mechanics: the difficulty level of crafting recipes and the crafter's skill affect the quality of the items made. If you assign an inexperienced person to do complex things, such things will usually be of lower quality. Conversely, an experienced crafter will create better quality items.
  • The quality of the materials and tools used influences the progress of work on repairing and upgrading the player's ship modules. Better materials and tools make the upgrade or repair process faster, and fewer materials are used. When using inferior materials, you need to use more of them, and the process itself is slightly longer.
  • The game's help has been updated with information about the latest changes regarding the impact of the quality of things on various actions in the game.
  • And the old code, as usual, got some small improvements. According to the latest data, I have more or less 2/3 of the work in this field behind me. 2/3 from the first stage. :)
