Weekly development report 2025/08/16

And another quiet week in the stable game version. Nothing new or old has been detected; as usual, something escapes my attention. ;) So it's time for another, more stable version of the game, with the latest fixes that have been waiting for this for some time. About 24 hours after the publication of this post, the new version will be ready for download. And then there'll probably be something again. ;)

The development version of the game is constantly moving forward. This week I was mainly dealing with Yak shaving. As usual, the new release also detected a few new bugs that needed fixing. However, most of the time was again devoted to working on a new UI for the game.

  •  As mentioned above, the time this week was mainly spent on the new UI for the game. At least the screen with the list of available missions in the bases is now complete. As usual, it will require some corrections later. For now, however, I have moved on to working on a screen to loot empty bases. Here the work goes quite quickly, as this screen is very similar to the trading screen. This task required some changes to the game code. Fortunately, for now it looks like everything is working properly. Additionally, several issues with the new UI have been fixed, such as showing a preview of available missions on the map or text on the Cancel button on the trading screen.
  • By the way, I'm still working on the library used to create the new UI. Work here is going very slowly; mainly the fun continues with the reorganization of the entire library and its rewriting in the Nim programming language.
  • Improved game change information in the changelog. Some changes landed in different versions of the game than they actually were.
  • Added showing information about an available mission in the base when using its preview on the map. For now, only in the old UI, but I am slowly moving towards showing such information also in the new one. This side quest has stopped work on the quality of items in the game for now.
  • And the old code got some tweaks and became more readable. As usual. ;)
